About Arouet Foundation

Arouet Foundation is a 501c3 Arizona Nonprofit Corporation.  The mission is to provide education assistance, workforce development, and job opportunities to incarcerated men and women, as well as ex-offenders, who are sincere about working hard to change their mind-set and to become productive citizens. 

Why?

One of the fastest growing burdens on government and taxpayers, is the cost of incarcerating men and women. In the United States alone, there are over 2.3 million prisoners, at an estimated cost of more than $50 billion annually. This cost is carried by the citizens and supported by raising taxes. Recidivism is the act of “returning to prison, ” but the staggering number of repeat felons is a call that most prison programs don't work. Approximately 60-70% of prisoners that are released return to prison within 36 months, and 30% return within six months of release. Arouet Foundation has proved that recidivism can be substantially reduced by more than 50% with programs that emphasize education, job skills, and post release work opportunities, without increasing the burden on government. Arouet Foundation has a goal of putting more people to work, and thereby reducing the increasing taxes we all share.
